welcome to our blog...this is where my next journey begins as lets face is just lots of little journeys with twists and turns and Wowzers what else is 2020 going to throw at us... lots of us have had to go through change this last year but how many have been for the best? Have you found your silver lining?. It almost feels taboo to talk about our highs rather than the lows but we need to do more of it, give hope and raise our vibrations so that we can and will go on and acheive what our heart desire...if things dont change they just stay the same and the pandemic aint going anywhere anytime soon so lets ride those waves and focus on what we can acheive rather than what we can't. Back in February I have to admit I felt we were in a no get out situation, working 6 sometimes 7 days a week to pay rent/staff and overheads to keep my little dream alive but the thing was my dream had been achieved and I had other dreams which could not move forward to acheive due to the constraints of the cafe so i just kept going and everytime I felt I could not go on I always thoght what about my lovely customers? where would they get their vegan fix? what about my staff I pay their wages? So on we trooped running on that hamster wheel of life not thining abour my own needs or lifestyle until Covid 19 struck a blow but instead of taking it as a blow I decided to take to as a positive change that we cant do anything about so rather than hide myself away and wait for it to blow over I ran with it and did a litle business pivot and never looked back and boy am I glad I kept a clear head and just got on with it as yet again times are getting tough in the hospitality industry and is one thing less i now dont have to worry about due to the changes we made to our business. We closed out bricks and motar shop and took our show on the road delivering healthy plant based food and juices direct to you doors. Deliveries was something we always had in th pipeline, so before the official lockdown we spent a week at our favourite little bolthole in Staithes and brainstormd our way forward, rewrote our whole business plan for the next 3 years and slowly but surley we are ticking off that list getting a step nearer to that ultimate dream every week. Changing our name was a scary thing to do as we are known as Pulp Fiction, but that was the cafe with its funky vintage vibe and our path called for somehting new, artwork and relaunch, will we loose customers is the wuestion we keept on asking ourselves but i followed my heart and went with it and my core customers have been with me through it all for which i am so grateful for. I have rebuilt mour website and this is my first blog and the first major tick will be my new kitchen to go with our new Business Name Fig Leaf Plant Based Life, which will be officially in use when the plumbing gets fitted next week...
So change for us has meant that we have more time to work on our goals, we have changed the way we work and we have even changed our name to reflect on our food and the type of service we will be offering our clients in their homes, retreats and events, Pulp Fiction served its purpose and if it wasnt for our lovely little cafe i would not have found my true love of plant based cooking, more time for hobbies as I have started sea swimming and painting and cooking...yes cooking I now have more time to be creative with my menus and recipe development and I have been writing content for a future project too...every little step helps, more time to mooch our beautiful land in our trusty campervan Elton, more time to live a little and not get caught up in the ratrace.... I feel like a time millionaire, less stressed and a much happier person all round. What changes have you made in your life this year good or bad as acknowledging them can only help you to change things... I dont even wish it hadn't taken a pandemic for me to make those changes as it has all been part of my journey and at the ed of the day a pandemic is not something that any of us could have forseen, changed or forget about so it needs to be woven into our tapestry of life. So here is to the future whatever it may bring and I hope that you tune in to my blogs to see what's coming next on our journey... we aint even got started yet. xx Paula xx
